Psychic Experiments

Magic, A collaboration with Spirit is an emerging series of work which is the result of Taylor Berry’s research into alternative methods of drawing, focusing on esoteric practices and spiritual methodologies.

In the Artists practice, drawing exists as both process and outcome, through which she creates analogue mappings of spaces that reside beyond the physical. Specifically investigating what she refers to as Spiritual Space.

The intention of the following work is to further explore Spiritual Space through the creation of ‘Psychic experiments’. Each experiment will investigate a specific method of drawing: one employing the use of mediumistic drawing through meditation and channelling; another incorporating Divinatory practices such as Tarot reading and separately, pendulum work (Radiesthesia). Through each experiment The Artist will produce a collection of drawings to be later curated to form a new body of work.

January 2025, Taylor Berry published her Tarot Deck, Chromatic Visions. This deck has now come to be the main focus in one of her Psychic drawing experiments. In this exploration of drawing the Artist takes readings from the deck which she then responds to through a practice of intuitive drawing, creating a collection of recordings (drawings) that transcribe the symbolic narratives of the readings.
